Laurie Metcalf is best known for her role as Jackie Harris in the TV sitcoms Roseanne and (currently) The Connors. She is a highly acclaimed actor, having been nominated for eleven Emmy Awards (winning three times for her role on Roseanne), six Tony awards (winning twice for her performances in “A Doll’s House, Part 2,” and “Three Tall Women”), and three Golden Globe awards. For her stand-out performance in 2017’s Ladybird, she received an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress. She studied theatre at Illinois State University with fellow actors John Malkovich, Glenne Headly, and Joan Allen. She once said of herself, “I am hideously shy as myself, but on stage I can run around naked and bite the heads off fish.”
