Bill Capossere
Drowning (2025)

Bill lives, writes, and teaches in Rochester, NY, where he’s been particularly lucky to work with a thriving writing and theater community. His full-length plays have been given staged readings as part of GEVA Theatre’s developmental Regional Writer’s Showcase and its New Plays Festival, while shorter works have been performed as part of the Rochester Fringe Festival and collaborative events sponsored by GEVA and Writers and Books. His fiction and non-fiction works have appeared in multiple journals and anthologies, and garnered mention in the “notable essays” section of several Best American Essays. He holds an MFA from the Mt. Rainier Writing Workshop. When not writing, he is probably grading, reading, or driving cross-country for an annual hiking and camping trip. It was on one such drive that the core image of Drowning popped into his head and then, on another drive a few years later, the actual concept for the play itself. He’s hoping for similar inspiration on the drive out to Durango this year.
